Secret Squares

Secret Squares is a shape-and-color logic puzzle with 40 hand-designed challenges. The board is a 3×3 grid, and there are 9 pieces: a square, a circle and a triangle in red, yellow and green. Each piece has its own clue card, and the black spot on the card shows where that piece goes. The catch: a clue card has to fit inside the 3×3 board without being turned, so the child works out where it fits and reads off the right box. In level 1 the answer jumps out; later clues are smaller and use symbols (an X means "not here"), so children learn to rule options out and reason step by step.

How to Play

Look at the board: 9 empty boxes in a 3×3 grid, and 9 pieces — a square, a circle and a triangle in red, yellow and green. Every piece gets its own box.
Pick a piece and find its clue card. The black spot shows where the piece goes. The card has to fit inside the board without turning, so work out where it can go.
Place the piece: on a phone, tap the piece and then tap a box; on a computer, drag it onto the box.
When all 9 pieces are on the board, tap Check. If something is wrong, your pieces stay where they are and the wrong boxes get a red outline, so you can see what to change.
There are no lives to lose: after 5 tries an Answer button lets you peek at the solution. Work through all 40 levels at your own pace — your progress is saved in your browser.

There is no rush. A clock shows how long a puzzle takes, but it does not count down. Only if a puzzle stays open for more than 60 minutes is its board cleared so the puzzle starts fresh — your unlocked levels stay saved.

Tips for Parents

-For the first few levels, ask the child to describe what they see out loud before placing a piece. Explaining the clue in words deepens the thinking.
-If a puzzle is too hard, take a break or replay an easier level you have already solved, then come back to it. Frustration kills curiosity faster than anything.
-Two or three levels per session is ideal for kindergarten-age players — quality over quantity.
-Praise good reasoning, even when the answer is wrong. "You put it there because of the black spot — good noticing! Does the card really fit that way?" teaches that thinking is what matters.
